About Credit Score Hero
We help Canadians rebuild their credit after life hits hard. Free tools, honest advice, zero gatekeeping.
Why We Built This
Credit recovery in Canada is confusing. After a bankruptcy, consumer proposal, divorce, or just falling behind on payments, most people don't know where to start. The information online is either American (different laws, different products, different credit bureaus) or it's trying to sell you something expensive.
We built Credit Score Hero to fix that. Every tool on this site is free, every guide is Canada-specific, and every recommendation considers your actual situation — not a one-size-fits-all template.
What We Offer
- Recovery Quiz — A 90-second assessment that builds a personalized credit recovery plan based on your scenario, score range, income, debts, goals, and timeline
- Score Impact Calculator — See exactly how much bad credit costs you per year in higher interest rates across mortgages, car loans, insurance, and credit cards
- Debt Payoff Calculator — Compare Snowball vs Avalanche methods to find the fastest way out of debt
- Free Letter Templates — Debt validation and pay-for-delete letter templates for negotiating with collection agencies
- Recovery Guides — Detailed, month-by-month guides for specific situations (bankruptcy, divorce, student debt, payday loans)
- Educational Articles — Product comparisons, how-tos, and everything you need to know about credit in Canada
Our Expertise
Our content is grounded in Canadian credit bureau data (Equifax Canada and TransUnion Canada), federal and provincial consumer protection legislation, and guidance from the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC). We reference Licensed Insolvency Trustees, Credit Counselling Canada, and provincial limitation periods because the details matter when your credit is on the line.
Every article cites Canadian sources. Every product recommendation is available to Canadian residents. Every legal reference is to Canadian law — not American.
How We Make Money
Transparency matters. Credit Score Hero earns affiliate commissions when you sign up for financial products through our links — companies like Borrowell, KOHO, Capital One Canada, and others. This is how we keep every tool free.
Important: affiliate relationships never influence our recommendations. If a product isn't good for credit recovery, we don't recommend it, regardless of commission. We also recommend many free resources (Credit Counselling Canada, FCAC, provincial regulators) that pay us nothing.
Canada Only (For Now)
Credit Score Hero is built exclusively for Canadians. Canadian credit bureaus, Canadian laws, Canadian products. We chose to specialize rather than give generic advice that doesn't help anyone.
Thinking about a US version? It's on the roadmap, but only after we've helped as many Canadians as possible first.
